about
Long before Prince Rama, Me, Nimai and Michael formed a punk band in high school. I knew how to play about four chords on guitar, Nimai found some busted drums behind a dumpster, and Michael scored a keyboard from a church basement. We called ourselves Däsi. We changed the "a" to an "ä" to make it seem more exotic. We thought we were the missing link between the Beatles and Bikini Kill. We played wherever we could get a show-- backyards, anarchist libraries, church socials, and Krishna ashrams-- after some years we finally saved up enough dough to press 500 CDs. In typical teenage fashion, soon after pressing the CDs we parted ways for college and immediately rejected our high school band as "lame" and "embarrassing". The compact disc remnants of our high school selves sat buried for years in a closet somewhere in the Florida swamps... until now. If you're curious what Prince Rama sounded like in high school, this is for you.
